I needed these prompts - puzzles, a novella, doing nothing. Thank you.

Thanks for letting me know. I think cutting back on cooking and social media is a bold step that will definitely be restorative.

Puzzles! What a great idea! I’m going to start one.

I also love your photos, Jen!

Thanks Nicole. Puzzles are a new discovery for me. And I've been trying to figure out how to incorporate photos into my Substack more. Have been taking them for a long time.

Oh, I loved this post! I took three whole weeks off from work (Dec 16 until Jan 6) and I can’t tell you what a difference it has made to the start of my year. I feel refreshed and recharged. I spent a lot of time with family (my Mom came to visit), and I read a couple of books, went for daily walks, watched some fun TV and cuddled my cat. In other words, not much of anything! Delightful. I will check out that Foster book. Happy New Year 🎊

Okay so now I feel like buying a puzzle and a little table and setting it in a corner for quiet moments.

Right now I'm doing all the above: resting, nesting, home decorating, but also a bit of client work, updating my rates and services for 2025 (because when else do I have time to do maintenance on my own business), and most importantly, mentally planning ahead for new things in the new year.

Although I'm too lazy to click your workshop link (it's 9pm), I'm interested.
