I am just now working on my "Introduction." Wondering--does it go on my About page or my Home page? 🤔 The short of it is--I have written a narrative nonfiction and I am seeking publication for that. Signed up on Substack to become a part of the community, and that's sure what it feels like it is. My posts on the stack give the flavor of my writing while not revealing the book's whole topic. 📖
Hey Shell. Nice to e-meet you too:) I would out your "introduction on your About page. Here's a good breakdown of some really strong About pages. It'll give you some ideas. It's SO HARD writing about yourself: https://jenbaxter.substack.com/p/whos-your-about-page-really-about
Oh wow, I didn't know you were a photographer. That's so cool. I'm going to use this space to give you a Shoutout . . . Special thanks to @Jen Baxter, The Skillful Scribbler, for her brilliant tutoring. She walked me through setting up my Substack page step by step, sharing her knowledge, expertise, and experience. I recommend Jen for you or someone you invited to join who may need some help getting started.
Thank you so much, and you're so welcome, Sandy. I'm so glad you're sharing your wisdom here. I know Beauty from the Inside Out is going to help women see themselves differently.
Caught a bit of your chat with Hillary Dixler Canavan and excited to subscribe here! I am a two-time cocktail book author and the host of a home-cooking podcast called The Dinner Plan, which also has a newsletter here on Substack.
Hey Maggie! So good to see you here. Love your newsletters. (Excuse the slow response -Hillary and I did our live on my birthday, so last week was a bit of a birthday shuffle.) The interview goes out Monday. I'll DM you; I'd love to talk about hopping on a live together!
I was never a photographer but spent a quarter century (yikes) in photo studios as a food stylist. I appreciate photography of all sorts. During the time I was raising teens, my family began fostering dogs. The added work sometimes made life very complicated and chaotic. Caring for the dogs, however, became the surprising tether that kept our family together as our kids spiraled out of control. I write about people and pets and how we enhance each other's lives in my Substack, Like People, Like Pets. If all goes as planned, I will have a memoir released this summer about my parenting teens experience.
Cindy! That all sounds so amazing. Caring for dogs is such a bonding experience. Have you checked out the Substack Dog Snobs? So good. Kristi Keller is great.
Happy to follow! I'm a full time writer, wrote my first book at 21 (I was found by the publishers and signed based on my journalism work) and now I'm making a go of Medium/Substack after 15 years as a professional writer/jouranlist. I followed you because I saw you were on Kristina God's list of substacks! Such an interesting history you have - I can't imagine just going to Bali but I admire you for doing so. I'm a homebody, my life changed dramatically with COVID when my family business closed, my freelance writing clients dried up, and I started experimenting with writing online. Now my life looks a lot different but I'm enjoying meeting interesting folks online. Nice to 'meet' you and I look forward to following you!
Hey Christie! I must have missed this in the shuffle, I can't believe I'm just seeing it now. Thanks so much for reaching out. So now that it's been a few months, how's your Substack going? I'm checking it out! Are you enjoying writing here?

I do know Kristi. I just took a class from her! She has a lot of knowledge to pass along!
YES! Now it's coming back to me. We were both in that class. Her home page make over:)
Yes. That’s right!
